State Fair 2019 (Second Visit) - The Giant Slide

We made it to The Giant Slide and discovered the line for tickets to be very short. Dale surprised me by saying he wanted to go so we purchased a couple tickets, hopped in line, grabbed our mats and made the hike up the stairs. 

This year is the 50th anniversary of the Giant Slide.

The line for tickets was short.

Lots of steps to get to the top.

Obviously it takes longer to get to the top than down to the bottom.

Quite fun for just $2.50. Wow, 1969, 50 years ago. I don't exactly remember it but Mom says I was there. Mom, Dad, Grandma Alice and Grandpa Louie came in the late 1960s starting the year or maybe the year after I was born. I'm still attending more than half a century later.

Wow. Three times to the Fair this year. My most EVER. And no, Dale, the gopher did not have any corn stuck between his teeth. I was just kidding.

First Visit 2014 - Park & Ride

I met Mike, Charisse, and Shayla at their house around 1 p.m. and then drove with them to the Park & Ride at the old Ford plant site in Highland. It was all as easy as could be - no parking fee and no fare required for the bus. We were dropped off at the new West End area where we found the ticket line to be unreasonably long. The three of them had already bought their tickets in advance so there was no wait for them to get in. I however, needed a ticket. I told them to go on ahead and get a beer and that I'd meet them inside after I obtained my ticket.

Minnesota State Fair 2010 Part 2

This first photo is the state fair button from 2010. Dale and I didn't go that year but I found this picture on the internet. I'm a fan of the Fair's gopher mascot. I learned recently that one is named Fairborn and the other is Fairchild. The second photo is from the Minnesota State Fair website and is dated August 31, 2010. I love going to the fair for the food and the french fries are always delicious!
