I tried getting a serious picture. I really did.

But he wouldn't let me.

State Fair 2018 (Second Visit) - Corn Roast

Sunday, September 2, 2018

Next up: corn.

The line was insanely long but I braved it anyway. Dale waited for me across the street.

Because of the long wait I had a chance to pay attention to how they actually roast the corn. See above.

Dale photo bombed my selfie and it...

crack me...

up! The corn was worth the wait, by the way.

State Fair 2017 - Corn

Friday, September 1, 2017
The corn stand is always a favorite of mine.  Still only $3 an ear.
This guy's corny.

Fair 2015 - Visit #1: Alligators, Corn, Cookies... Oh, My!

Saturday, August 29, 2015

The next stop on our list was Sweet Martha’s Cookies for Shay but the lines were so insanely long that we passed and decided to try again later. We hit the Corn Roast stand and Bayou Bob’s in the meantime. I got corn while Cathy got fried alligator. She let me try some. I’ve never had it before. It was an odd combination of tasting like chicken but with a consistency somewhat flakey, like fish. Very tasty, though.

At this point, Mike took Shayla off to attempt another try at Sweet Martha’s Cookies. I got in line for a Pronto Pup and while waiting got a call from Dale who is up on Madeline Island for a board meeting. It was great to hear from him. I was so sad that he couldn’t be with us but I don’t think he would have enjoyed today’s crowds. We usually attend the fair together on weeknights when there’s a bit more elbow room.

First Visit 2014 - Corn Roast Stand

Through texting, we all figured out we'd meet at Juanita's Fajitas near the Grandstand. The above photo was taken near that spot. Notice in the background to the left is the sweet corn stand. It's been a few years since I've had an ear and it was divine.

Corn Roast Stand

Didn't make it to the Corn Roast stand for corn-on-the-cob this past trip. I'm obviously craving it since it's been on my mind this past week. I will say when I was there last Friday I ate reasonably although that's not to say that I didn't eat some pretty heavy food. I stopped eating well before I hit my limit so I guess there's always a first time for something at the Fair.

The Fair 2011 (First Visit) Part 3 - Ag/Hort Building

Top photo: One of the entrances to the Agriculture/Horticulture building.
Middle photo: Prize winning corn.
Bottom photo: Prize winning apples.
I don't know how they pick the winners because they all look good to me!
